THE ALLURE

The latest design insight and inspiration

Spring Market Trends

Twice a year the design world descends on High Point, North Carolina — and with every visit, we come home with our heads full of color, texture, and possibility. This season was no exception. We walked the market with an eye toward what our clients actually need: the finishes that feel fresh without feeling too trendy and the pieces that make a room unforgettable.

Here’s what stopped us in our tracks — and what’s now arriving to the Wallure to Flure showroom:

Nature Comes Indoors with Tree-Themed Wallcoverings

From ancient forest prints to delicate botanical branch patterns, tree-motif wallpaper had a serious moment at HPMKT. These aren’t the loud accent walls of years past — they’re sophisticated, almost painterly, the kind of statement that makes you want to sit and stay awhile. Think muted sage, ink black on cream, and dusty earthy tones. The effect is immersive without being overwhelming.

Design tip: Use a tree-themed wallcovering in a library, study, or powder room for maximum drama with minimal commitment.

A Nostalgic Movement with Handmade Artisanal Wallcoverings

There’s a quiet rebellion happening against perfection. Handmade and hand-finished wallcoverings — grasscloth, woven paper, natural fiber weaves — were everywhere at market, and clients are responding to the imperfection. Each panel is just slightly different from the next and that’s the whole point. It’s texture you can practically feel just by looking at it.

Design tip: Pair a handmade wallcovering with a silky, low-pile rug for an elegant textural contrast that reads as effortlessly considered.

Rugs With Something to Say: Texture & Unique Shapes

Flat-weave is stepping back; high texture is stepping forward. We saw chunky loops, layered pile heights, and dimensional weaves that practically beg to be touched. And the shapes — round, octagonal, organically irregular — are challenging the tyranny of the standard rectangle. These rugs become the conversation piece in a room, not just the thing that ties it together.

Design tip: A round or unusually shaped rug in a traditionally rectangular room creates instant architectural interest and loosens up a formal space.

The Color Story: Rich, Warm Hues

If there was a palette of the market, it wore the colors of a Hermès boutique: rich amber, cream, and just a whisper of black. Luxurious and undeniably timeless, this color story pairs beautifully with both natural materials and jewel-toned accents. We saw it on rugs, on wallcoverings, even in trim details. We’re already imagining a cozy, yet elevated fall featuring burgundies and warm accents.

Design tip: Ground a room in these iconic hues with a statement rug, then let the walls breathe in a creamy neutral or handmade grasscloth.
